Papa Jahat!

During school holiday, I was teaching my 5 years old nephew how to read and write. For a start I asked him to spell out his name, Putera Zarique Khusyairie ( not his real name). I wrote down his name in the exercise book and asked him to write it out. He tried his very best to write several alphabets when suddenly he broke into tears. I was so surprised and asked him what happened. He said, " Papa jahat". So I asked him did his father scolded him or canned him for being a naughty boy. He answered, "No". So why did you said that, I asked him again. He said, " Papa jahat sebab letak nama Zariq panjang sangat". I laughed out loud! Ha..ha..ha..Pity! my nephew.

My father complaints to me too when my husband named our daughter's Siti Khadijah Zuliana. He said what is the purpose to give such a long name when we usually called someone by their nick name. My mother said that is the father's right to named their children with whatever names they wanted. So both my father and mother argued with their pros and cons. I agreed with my father and I agreed with my mother too.

It is the duty of the parents to give a good name to their children. Choose a name that is recommended by Islam or at least the names of which means good. We are forbidden to name our children with bad names that could affects the dignity and embarrassing the child. The first science is taught by Allah SWT. to Adam is the name. "..........And He taught Adam the names of all things." (Al-Baqarah : 31 ) This verse also proves that the name is very important and key requirements of human life.

Nowadays we seldom read or hear people naming their children with Malay tradisional names such as Kemboja, Melati, Melor, Tanjung ( flower names) or Saadiah, Sarimah, Kalsom (for girls) or Aduka, Teruna, Anjang or P.Ramlee (boys name). These traditional Malay names is endangered due to decline of prestige.

In this era of globalization the trend of naming the children are more modern and have foreign smells. Many people mocked traditional names for not being cool, trendy or funny. The name does not reflect the quality of a person so we should be proud of our national culture including the name.
My cousin just gave birth to a baby girl, her name is Nur Mellysa Adreanna Lim. I hope she will not cry when she is ask to spell her name. Sorry....mama Mellysa...

Living Life the Fullest!

My sister in law send me this short story and I want to share it with you my fellow bloggers.

My Times UP?

A 54 year old woman had a heart attack and was taken to the hospital. While on the operating table she had a near death experience.

Seeing God she asked 'Is my time up?'

God said, 'No, you have another 43 years, 2 months and 8 days to live.'

Before surgery

Upon recovery, the woman decided to stay in the hospital and have a face-lift, liposuction, breast implants and a tummy tuck. She even had someone come in and change her hair color and brighten her teeth! Since she had so much more time to live, she figured she might as well make the most of it. After her last operation, she was released from the hospital.

After surgery

While crossing the street on her way home, she was killed by an ambulance.

Arriving in front of God, she demanded, 'I thought you said I had another 43 years? Why didn't you pull me from out of the path of the ambulance?'

- God replied: 'I didn't recognize you.'

Moral of the Story- Do not change God's creation

p/s for those who have ideas for Moral of the Story

you are welcome...

My James Bond

My husband came back from work yesterday with a sour face. KL was raining and as a result- traffic jam! After having dinner, we passed our time chit-chatting..., this question suddenly pop-out from my mouth.

" What will you do if you're a billionaire?''
As a James Bond's follower my husband says he definately will buy for himself an Aston Martin as his car. (My James Bond can only afford to wear an Omega watch at the moment...he..he..) James Bond is Omega watch Ambassador. He will build a 20th storey condominium at Duta Hartamas with the penthouse as our home..........
He will buy a private jet to mobilise his journey overseas with his Bond girl ( that's me...!) Ooopps.........! he cancelled the private jet order and wanted to buy a yacht instead! He will take our family sailling all around the world. He will employ Dato' Azhar Mansor as his skipper and Dato' Chef Wan as the Chef...( sorry Dato Azhar...sorrry Chef Wan......).

I observed most of the Malays have dreams to be millionaires (including me). They are so mesmerized with the idea of being one...the faster they can be one, the better. They will grab any opportunities for a chance to be a millionaire. They are risk with unrecognised fraudulent websites or MLM programs, investment or suspicious business or pyramid scheme activities. We heard before of 'Labu Peram Scheme' and 'Pak Man Telo's scheme'. Some of them ended up with nothing, losing their families or dignity or loaning money from the 'Along'. That's bad!.
Is there a shortcut of being a millionaire? Dato Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary worked very hard all the way before becoming a billionaire. Still he remains low profile and lead a very humble normal life.

The Malay teens today ( including my children) are also mesmerized with the idea or persona of becoming an artist or a star. They wanted to be famous and at the same time making lots of money. They will take part in any talent auditions by the tv programmes. Yes, some of them are really talented but most of them are only making fun of themselves. Dato' Siti Nurhaliza works very hard too and also being critized constantly on her performances and her life too. Be whatever you want to be or who ever you want to be but finish you study firstla....

I am apologizing to anyone who is offended with my statements above because I would't want anybody or somebody to held a demonstration or picketing in front of my house saying that I am a "Pengkhianat Bangsa".

I wish my husband will become a billionaire because he promised to name the yacht after my name. Isn't that great! .........he....he....he......

Lucky Malaysian!

My husband's South African friend, Mila and Regardt send us a postcard last December after their visit here. She wrote,

Dear Friends, sunny greetings from Pretoria! We miss evething about Malaysia. That is why we are planning to visit again next year in April 2011. We read a lot of books about Malaysia and are even trying to learn some phrases. We are both doing well but are very busy at work.We hope you like the little things we send you. I hope the girls like their things for school. We have showed our pictures from our holiday to all our friends and we told them that we want to move there and work in KL. It's our dream. We hope that all is going great with your family and your business. Please say "Hi" to KL from us. Hope you will write soon. Next time we will send you some pictures. Sending you our best greetings, Lots of love Mila + Regardt

After a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that hits Japan, this natural disasters prompted offers of humanitarian operation of search and rescue from 45 countries.
There are no report of cassualties among Malaysian and their family are reported to be safe. Alhamdulillah. Praise to Allah.

We are reminded of how fortunate we are to be living in Malaysia and how foreigners love Malaysia. How lucky we are to be Malaysian, to be able to live in this promising land. Thanks to the outstanding economic management by the government. Although a few leaders are still living in denial and claiming that the Minister had mislead Malaysia. The tendency to create and raise sensitive and racial issues by certain politician and NGOs will jeopardize harmony and the nation image. They are the ungrateful citizens of Malaysia. Do they benefit from the turmoil that they really wanted? What a shame! What will they think of next?
Please Respect the Solidarity and Sovereignty of my Malaysia!

Malaysian should appreciate peace and development we enjoy. But when Malaysian have lost faith in Malaysia to find a greener path, united Malaysian or 'One Malaysia' seems ineffective and stale. Let us persue mutual understanding as a united citizen of Malaysia. We should recall the struggle of our forefathers for Independence to the prosperity and peace of modern Malaysia.

Let us pray and also work hard for Malaysia towards stronger and more peaceful tomorrow.

I love Malaysia!

Our Endangered World!

It have been nearly a month since the Denggi Fever had it outbreak in my place. The Aedes mosquitoes had invaded our place. We just had our 'gotong-royong' last week to clear up all rubbish around our houses and especially the empty houses. Few cases have been reported and few of the neighbours have been warded to the hospital. What a pity! Due to this outbreak, we have to encounter daily routine of fogging every evening in the block.

Last Saturday, the people from Majlis Kesihatan Rawang came to my house to give some explanation and tips on how to control the dengue outbreak. I planted pandan plant in front of my house. They showed me that rain drops inside the centre of the pandan leaf can be a good breeding place for the mosquitoes. Don't tell me that I have to chop off my pandan plant. If that so.... I have to run to the shop for a few pandan leaves to cook nasi lemak or nasi ayam. As the precaution they give me some powder to be put inside my pandan plant to avoid the mosquitoes from breeding inside it. What a relief! So, when ever it rains it have been my routine to make sure my pandan plant doesn't kept water inside it.

Due to our busy routine everyday we sometimes are not aware of some simple things we should do everyday that is, making sure that there is no containers laying around which can keep water inside them. We have the responsibilities to take care of our family and our neighbours health too. Precaution before we fell sick is better than healing. My point of view may be too petty but the dengue fever has become a major international public health concern.

Technologies and development have made our life very comfortable in many ways but they make people growing away from nature.

Deforestation for the sake of urbanization and industrialization have serious effects on the surroundings. Deforestation effected the biodiversity, enviroment and social settings.
The development has increased pollution, endangered the ecologies, human, animal species, flora and fauna and resulted in the global warming. This then effected the ozone layer which protect the earth.
The world is also endangered because of human violent. Wars resulted destruction because of the invention of weapons, bombs and nuclear weapons .

The technologies had made human very dependant and lazy. Lack of exercises and all kind of fast food which have lots of chemical ingredients resulted in poor health condition.

In today's modern world we have lots of diseases and epidemic which cannot be cured and puzzled the scientists.
I am saying that this world is not a safe place to live on anymore.
Everything happens for a reason!

Can we blame God? No! It is all because of our doing!
